A series of nine photographic postcards (95mm x 135mm) visually communicating a journey into memory.
Memory is fragile and fragmentary. The journey into what has been treasured and lost is illusory and surprising. When we packed up my parents’ house their cherished nic-nac were carefully wrapped, catalogued and boxed. The collection waits in a cold, clinical storage facility. It is this sense of the personal and universal I wanted to portray in this photographic series. Each bubble-wrapped object, except for the box, is photographed identically with an eery blue hue and short depth of field. The photographic atmosphere alludes to a museum, but also suggest a morgue, and the repository of the box is central.
