Client: TVNZ Agency: Fly (Images © Fly Limited 2014) Creative Strategy: Johnson McKay Art Director: Johnson McKay Design & Illustration: Tanmay Desai To launch the new season of The Walking Dead, TV2 approached Fly to create a media/PR kit. Going with the concept of a Walker Survival Kit for a post apocalyptic world my task was to design this kit and all it's contents, where the core theme revolved around the idea of "Arm. Evade. Attack". The kit contained a emergency 'combat ration' & a boolket that tutored people about arming yourself with potential weapons, evading a walker attack and what to do in the case of you running into a walker. The aim of the design & typography was to capture the post apocalyptic ethos of the show with a subtle 'army' twist to bring a sense of urgency and seriousness about the kit. It's not often that I get to draw a zombie head and call it legit serious work, so I particularly enjoyed that (On a Wacom)! Also enjoyed creating the hero image used by TV2 on social media to promote the kit as a limited edition give away. Word is that the photo went viral and quite quickly spread to international fan sites. Much like a virus.
